Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is an initiative funded by the Australian Government which seeks volunteers to provide companionship and friendship for older people who may be socially isolated, lonely, or who don’t have the opportunity to leave their homes very often.

Volunteer opportunities are available to visit people within your local community, including residents in local aged care facilities.

You can enquire about the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme by submitting an enquiry.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is funded by the Australian Government and is designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation for people in receipt of an aged care package. As an approved ACVVS provider, St Vincent’s Care recruits and supports volunteers to visit residents on a regular basis, sharing friendship and social support

Volunteers are required to undergo a National Police Check. This will be organised for you by a member of the SVCS team. There will be no cost to you.

Volunteers are also required to provide details of 2 referees.

Volunteering is not a formal pathway to employment at St Vincent's Care. If you are interested in working with us and feel you have the right skills, we invite you to apply to work with us.

Absolutely! We look for enthusiastic and passionate individuals who have a genuine desire to work with the elderly. No experience is required. Local staff will be ready to guide you as you get used to your new environment.

Most volunteer roles require a minimum commitment of 12 months. Attendance can range from a couple of hours each month to 1-2 days each week. It all depends on your availability.

We also ask volunteers to attend at a regular time and day. This is so that staff can prepare and be ready for your visit. The staff and residents will also be looking forward to seeing you!

Vaccinations are one small way we can help you and those are you stay safe. St Vincent's Care requires all volunteers to have a yearly flu vaccination. You will be required to show evidence of your vaccination status before you can volunteer.
