The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is an initiative funded by the Australian Government which seeks volunteers to provide companionship and friendship for older people who may be socially isolated, lonely, or who don’t have the opportunity to leave their homes very often.
Volunteer opportunities are available to visit people within your local community, including residents in local aged care facilities.
You can enquire about the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme by submitting an enquiry.

Our Aged Care facilities are always on the lookout for enthusiastic volutneers. View our full list of our locations.
1. After you register your interest to volunteer, a friendly member of the team will be in touch to discuss the volunteer opportunities in your area.
2. If a suitable volunteer opportunity is available, you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have an opportunity to meet some of the local staff and discuss the specific details of your prospective volunteer role.
3. Successful applicants are then required to undergo a police check, reference check and a statutory declaration - don't worry, we'll guide you through it!
4. Volunteers are provided with full training to make sure you feel confident and comfortable when you start with us.
When you apply to volunteer, you will be asked about your skills, hobbies and interests. This is to help match you to a volunteer role we know you'll love. Some of the most common activities our volunteers partake in include:
Volunteers are required to undergo a National Police Check. This will be organised for you by a member of the SVCS team. There will be no cost to you.
Volunteers are also required to provide details of 2 referees.
Volunteering is not a formal pathway to employment at St Vincent's Care. If you are interested in working with us and feel you have the right skills, we invite you to apply to work with us.
Absolutely! We look for enthusiastic and passionate individuals who have a genuine desire to work with the elderly. No experience is required. Local staff will be ready to guide you as you get used to your new environment.
Most volunteer roles require a minimum commitment of 12 months. Attendance can range from a couple of hours each month to 1-2 days each week. It all depends on your availability.
We also ask volunteers to attend at a regular time and day. This is so that staff can prepare and be ready for your visit. The staff and residents will also be looking forward to seeing you!
Vaccinations are one small way we can help you and those are you stay safe. St Vincent's Care requires all volunteers to have a yearly flu vaccination. You will be required to show evidence of your vaccination status before you can volunteer.
