How to apply for an aged care job in Sydney (with links)

1. Find the job that you want to apply for

You can go through all of the aged care provider's websites, but the vast majority of the time they're already featured on Seek, Jora or Indeed which are the top 3 job search engines in Australia (you can click the logos below and follow the links straight to the Sydney pages).

If you're after a specific provider however, that's when your best chance will be to track down their recruitment page.

Bonus tip: It looks even better for an application if you can get a recommendation from a friend that already works at the aged care home you’re applying at.

Read on:

2. Reach out with a tailored resume

You can address it directly to the facility manager, Clinical Manager, but always send it through to the centralised job email address or through an online application service (like Seek). If you send a resume directly to a site, there’s more chance that it will just sit in someone’s inbox without a reply, or be left on a desk or in a filing cabinet without being followed up.

Aged care providers invest a lot of time and money into recruitment (because they want you to stick around!). Take advantage of it and apply through the main areas for applications.

3.  Prepare for a call from a recruiter

If you’ve done everything else right, a recruitment specialist either from the aged care provider or an agency will reach out to have a chat with you.

More often than not, this is to double check the information you’ve provided is accurate and up to date, but it’s also for the recruiter to get more information about you, your work history and why you want to work at that provider.
